This is the digital home of Ben SD, professional writer and maker of things. This site is intended as a simple stop to learn about me and the work I do, as well as just giving some of it a place to live.

Everything I make begins with a story, even the site itself. Writing is usually the first tool I reach for — it's my specialty and area of expertise — but I like to think of the medium as something the story naturally chooses for itself. Sometimes that's prose, other times it means images, sound, interactivity, or a combination of all three and more. If another angle can bring the story a little closer to the experience I had in mind, to true authenticity, then I'm inclined to give it a try.

I'm currently showcasing some minor programming work, each with a different form of storytelling taking the spotlight. The first is a playable personality assessment (intended for novelty use, not a psychiatric tool) based on a novella of the same name. The next is the redesigned Morpheus Quest website, sans the miscellaneous content such as achievements and page lists to return focus to the narrative. Finally, I've put together an archive of the few items I have from my dad, telling the years of his life through letters and images.
